92 percent Cabernet Sauvignon, 4 percent Merlot, 4 percent Petit Verdot

The 2010 growing season in Coombsville began with cool, wet weather in the spring and early summer. A heat spell in August helped accelerate the ripening process with little negative impact to the vineyards. Prior to harvest we went through each site on a vine by vine basis and carefully removed damaged clusters. Due to the rain in October, we picked fruit on three separate occasions based on color and flavor development.

In keeping with the style of previous vintages, the 2010 Merus is beautifully balanced and extremely complex. The cooler weather conditions throughout the growing season yielded a wine that is elegant, structured, high-toned and complete.  Aromas of violet, cedar, granite and red fruit abound.

95 Points - Robert Parker, The Wine Advocate

“Rich, deep and sumptuous, the 2010 is incredibly inviting. Sweet dark cherries, mocha, flowers and espresso meld together as the 2010 opens up in the glass. A soft, plush fruit rounds things out in style. The Merus Cabernet Sauvignon is overt, juicy and beautifully balanced from start to finish. One of the virtues of the 2010 is that it should drink fabulously pretty much upon release. The blend is 92% Cabernet Sauvignon, 4% Merlot and 4% Petit Verdot. Anticipated maturity: 2015-2030.”
